Nancy Zeltsman
Professor of Marimba at Berkeley College of Music and Boston Conservatory
Nancy Zeltsman was born in 1958 in Morristown, New Jersey. She received a bachelor’s in percussion performance from the New England Conservatory where her primary teacher was Vic Firth. Her other teachers include Ian Finkel, Robert Ayers, Donald Marrs and Dave Samuels. Zeltman mainly works as a soloist and teacher. She’s performed many recitals on marimba at the Tanglewood Festival of Contemporary Music, Carnegie Hall, San Francisco Symphony, and Shenzhen Concert Hall. Her discography includes three solo albums, three albums with Marimolin, William Thomas McKinley's marimba concerto recorded with Boston Modern Orchestra Project; and a marimba duo album with Jack Van Geem She teaches at both Berklee College of Music, Boston Conservatory, is a guest professor at Conservatorium van Amsterdam, and is Artistic Director of Zeltsman Marimba Festival.
