OUR MISSION
The goal of this project is to create a resource for young female musicians. The project highlights 42 American women in classical music who are conductors, composers, and musicians. As female musicians we are hyper aware of the gap created by the lack of information on female professionals within the industry. We want to remedy this by collate biographies on living American professionals. In addition, we will include resources for scholarship and sexual harassment cases in order to support young women who are navigating the industry. The inspiration for the name of our project comes from Helen Kotas who was a horn player and the first wind principal in a major American Symphony. She was acting principal of the Chicago Symphony from 1941-1948.
