Carol Jantsch

Principal Tuba Player of the Philadelphia  Orchestra

Carol Jantsch was born on March 8th, 1985. In 2006 Jantsch earned her Bachelor’s from the University of Michigan under the instruction of Fritz Kaenzig. In the same year Jantsch won the Principal Tuba position in the Philadelphia orchestra while still a student. She was also a semi-finalist for the New York Tuba position. Jantsch is the youngest person in the orchestra as well as the first female Principal Tuba player in a major orchestra. In addition to her position as an orchestral Tubist, Jantsch is also a renowned soloist. She has performed with The Philadelphia Orchestra, the Columbus Symphony, the St. Petersburg Symphony, the Henry Mancini Institute Orchestra, and the United States Marine Band. Jantsch is also the Tuba Professor at the Curtis Institute of Music.
