Betsy Heston

Assistant Principal Bass of the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra

Betsy Heston is Assistant Principal Bass of the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra. She joined the Orchestra in the 1990-91 season. Before coming to Pittsburgh she was a member of the New Orleans Philharmonic. At that time she was an adjunct professor at Loyola University.

Born and raised in Pittsburgh, Ms. Heston played with the Pittsburgh Youth Symphony Orchestra for three years and studied with PSO bassist Tony Bianco before attending the University of Cincinnati/College-Conservatory of Music, where she studied with Barry Green, and earned her Bachelor of Music degree in 1975. She currently teaches at Chatham University.
