Alice Parker
Alice Parker was born on December 16th, 1925 in Boston, Massachusetts. She earned her Bachelor’s in Music Performance and Composition from Smith College and her Master’s from the Juilliard School. At Juilliard she studied Choral Conducting under Robert Shaw. Parker is the founder of MELODIOUS ACCORD, a sixteen voice professional choir. Parker mentors professional musicians through the Melodious Accord Fellowship Program for assistance in teaching, composing, and conducting. Parker is the author of three books: The Anatomy of Melody, The Answering Voice, and The Melodious Accord Hymnal. Parker is the winner of two awards, the Robert Shaw Award from the American Choral Directors Association and the Harvard Glee Club Foundation Medal.
